Martha Julia Desnuda Fotos is a blog that shares photos of Martha Julia, an Ecuadorian woman who was photographed for a book in 2007. She's not the only one topless and naked in the book, however; it also features people like her: "Cindy," "Dorothy," and "Sylvia." The photos are mostly not sexual in nature; they're probably intended to give viewers a sense of what life's like where she came from. Some of the models found their way into poverty because they were young when other children saw their pictures and reported them to authorities. Others had their lives destroyed by being targeted for exploitation by their parents or family members. One of the photos show young Julia and her mother posing for a photo together. According to the state-run paper "El Comercio", it is to protect children who may view the photos because they are sexually explicit. The Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa requested Julia Desnuda Fotos to give up her blog. He contacted the Ministry of Health in order to take the photos down. "El Comercio" reported that Julia had hoped to win support from the president. The Minister of Health, Víctor Chávez, has denied that he has personally requested the deletions of the photos on his blog, although he did state that "the Ministry recommends that it is inappropriate for children under 13 to view these photographs."
